Here is what your next step in life should be to make the most important decision in your life...
1. Admit that you are a sinner. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 " For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." We sin because we were born with a sinful nature. That nature works in us to do what we want to do when we want to do it and live independently of what God wants. We have all broken God's law at some point so we are pronounced guilty and are sinners
2. God is a holy and just God. He requires perfection in our lives to enter heaven when we pass from this life. Matthew 5:48 says "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." We see from this verse we cannot live up to God's standard in our own ability so man has a problem; we are separated from a relationship with God.
3. That is the bad news but the good news is that God provided a way to bridge the relational gap between God and man. God is just, He cannot allow sin to enter into heaven or overlook it to have a relationship with man, so He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to earth to make the payment for your sin and mine. Jesus was 100 % man and 100 % God and came to die on the cross and shed His blood on our behalf for the payment of your sin and mine. Romans 5:8 says "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
What Do I Have to Do to Receive Forgiveness and to Restore my Relationship with God?
The answer is found in trusting in Christ alone for salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 says " For it is by graceyou have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works,so that no one can boast." You and I cannot work our way into heaven. Our salvation is not based on our good works outweighing our bad works. It is based on God showing grace to us by giving us the gift of eternal life.
If you want to receive this gift that provides an abundant life while living on the earth and having the assurance of being in heaven with God one day, I invite you to pray this prayer. It is not the prayer that saves but the intent of your heart.
“Lord Jesus, thank You for Your gift of eternal life. I
know I’m a sinner and do not deserve eternal life. But
You loved me so You died and rose from the grave to
purchase a place in Heaven for me. I now trust in You
alone for eternal life and repent of my sin. Please take
control as Lord of my life. Thank you so much!”
If this prayer is the sincere desire of your heart, look at
what Jesus promises to those who believe in Him:
“ I say unto you, he that believes on Me has
everlasting life.” John 6:47
Congratulations!! You are now a part of God's forever family!!!
